If you want a truly unique experience and discover remote places in the indonesian archipelago, away from the crowds, I can highly recommend you the "Ombak Putih", my preferred sailing ship in Indonesia: "Ombak Putih" adventure sailing with Indonesia Cruises.

The "Ombak Putih" is a small wooden Schooner cruising the Indonesian archipelago on different routes. This ship has been built (hand-made!) a few years ago by indonesian craftsmen, and looks very traditional from outside. Inside it has been equipped by dutch nautic engineers and contains all the modern amenities and safety stuff that sofisticated travellers require. It has 12 nicely decorated guest cabins (all with a small porthole) and can host up to 24 guests. All cabins have their own bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower.

I really like staying on this ship. It is not cheap, but surely worth every cent and with a service level comparable to a luxury-yacht, the price-performance ratio is excellent. The food and service is excellent. The captain and the crew is indonesian and very friendly and professional. In addition there is a european tour leader accompanying the group when going ashore to discover the indonesian islands.

I can just highly recommend this ship. Each trip on it is a truly unforgettable experience and not many have the opportunity to join this adventure.
